The British presenter spoke about humanity’s challenges in preserving the oceans ahead of the premiere of his latest documentary “Ocean with David Attenborough”.

David Attenborough, 98, will turn 99 on the premiere date of his new work about life on planet Earth. He is known for other famous productions such as “Blue Planet,” “Planet Earth,” and “Africa.”

According to the portal UNILAD, in a preview of the documentary “Ocean with David Attenborough” released before its May 8 debut, the British presenter spoke about his passion for nature and the oceans.

“When I first saw the sea as a young boy, it was considered a wild vastness to be tamed for the benefit of humanity,” said the presenter.

“Now, as I approach the end of my life, we know the opposite is true,” he confessed.

“After living nearly a hundred years on this planet, I now understand that the most important place on Earth is not on land but in the sea,” he concluded.

“Ocean with David Attenborough” will tell the story of the oceans, the problems the seas are facing, and will present possible solutions to restore marine life.

“Today, it’s in such a fragile state that I would have a hard time holding onto hope were it not for the most extraordinary discovery of all. If we save the sea, we save our world,” the naturalist explained.

The documentary will first be released in cinemas, but is expected to be made available on National Geographic, Disney+, and Hulu.
